As the recommended time/cups had elapsed thought I’d give my Profitec 400 a clean. My main worry was that a gorilla would have done up the nuts but they came undone easily. I was surprised how quickly the lever became graunchy after putting the Puly in the blind filter. First time back together the lever wasn’t quite right as the micro switch wasn’t going off when the handle was lowered to the middle position, it needed a little nudge. After another go at assembling that was fine but I do seem to have another issue.
For a while I’ve noticed that after pulling the shot the pressure still shows about 4 bar, after running a little water through after removing the PF it returned to 0. Perhaps my faulty memory but I thought when new it did return to 0 after the shot.
After my cleaning efforts, testing with the blind filter in, the pre-infusion which should go up to 4 climbs nearer to 8 bar, then it ramps up to 10 as it should . Once the handle is lowered the water comes out of the bottom of the E61 as it should but the pressure stays at 4 even if I operate the handle and pump. If I turn the machine off and open the handle water slowly flows and the pressure drops. It’s as if there’s a residual pressure that isn’t releasing, should it?
As the cam can only go in one way I’m sure that’s in correctly but as I couldn’t wiggle it in I also removed the mushroom and the outlet at the bottom (complete not split). Don’t think it’s possible to put anything back the wrong way? Water does come in and go out the right places it’s just the pressure sticks.
Any ideas.
Thanks to Dave for his videos which I watched, cleaning the Niche Zero was a breeze.
