That’s much better than I can do!
I’m sure of all the latte art tutorials I’ve seen on YouTube, none of them use a fancy jug. Like Lance Hendrick, they mostly seem a fairy plain shape.
I think we are going to have to have a latte art competition at some point.
Emc2 Well, I’ve just watched the video and then immediately went and made some of the wettest glossiest paint looking milk I have ever made….fantastic!
But as for the latte art…think Jackson Pollock as opposed to Turner, Caravaggio, Raphael or Constable.
Pompeyexile It’s a very good video, recommended watching.
Pompeyexile I found Lance Hendricks videos on latte art very helpful. I’d suggest you watch them.
Has anyone used the Decent jug?
Also what are views on thermometer in the jug, stick on label outside or just using hand?
I’ve never tried to steam.
I was in the same boat as you and went with this one. Works great and handy having the thermometer to show how quickly the milk warms on the Minima.

Another vote for the Motta 35, feels solid and pours well.
I’m looking to pick up the 350ml version of these the next time I’m in Cambs:
They look very similar to the Motta jugs. Not expecting the same quality, but I’m sure the success of my latte art isn’t that finely balanced!
That’s a great price
As an update on this thread - I’ve switched from the jug I bought with the temperature tags to a Motta jug on Monday. The difference is night and day. The Motta is far, far superior - especially when frothing larger quantities, which is something I struggled with virtually every time I tried with the former jug.
dutchy101 How much are you frothing? I am finding it impossible to froth c.200ml milk consistenly in a motta-style 350ml jug. Too many bubbles, too much head. I’ve had a few silky smooth, but they are the exception.
Are you now able to draw the Mona Lisa clearly into the top of a latte??
I’m using a 500ml Motta jug and whether it’s enough milk for one (175 - 200ml) or two drinks (350 - 400ml) since I’ve been using it, the foam is so much better than what I could achieve with the other jug - especially when doing milk for 2 drinks.
Emc2 after watching ONE video? That is impressive
hthec Emc2 after watching ONE video? That is impressive
I think LH videos for steaming milk and Latte Art are very good indeed.
hthec I could pour reasonably ok before watching the video but the quality of the microfoam was a bit hit and miss. Watching the video greatly improved the quality of the microfoam which in turn made a massive difference to the quality of the latte art.
The image shows my latte art before watching the video
Agree with this - I watched the steaming one when moving away from using automatic steaming on the Bambino (which was actually pretty good), to a manual machine. For a starter, just knowing where to place the tip of the wand in the jug makes a massive difference
