I quite fancy a new tamper. I have had loads of Torr ones and fancy a change. Any recommendations to consider? Size wise, I think it is 53.55 mm but if I ask nicely, I possibly know a man who can turn it down for me!

If you really fancy the Bravo Tampers, 54.9 mm would be perfect for the IMS baskets. But, it won’t fit the stocks.

Does curve refer to the base?

I absolutely love the convex curved base of the LM one that came with the Linea Mini and not sure I’d go back to a flat now but the handle has to be one of the most uncomfortable I’ve tried.

I’ve tried unscrewing the base but it’s either one cast piece or it’s the worlds strongest glue.

@dfk41 - I’d recommend a self levelling taper, pressure calibrated, such as the Bravo. I never used others, but the Bravo is well made and should last a lifetime!

I’m on a cheap normcore that I had a friend turn to fit the ims competition baskets.

Works ok.

I wouldn’t recommend it haha

My favorite is the Malwani because it is self levelling but without a spring and that’s good for my arthritic wrist and at almost 800 grams it does most of the tamping simply by sitting at on top of the basket. I had it cut down from the standard size to 54.4mm. A bit pricey though.

LMSC I do, I have a Reg Barber US curve, was a birthday present over 18 years ago and I’ve used it ever since.

Bought from the UK but they have joined the UK VAT system. They crop up now and again here. Still a metal insert for the end of the tamper to run in. Leveller from the same as well, easy to adjust.

;) Forgot I also use an indecent funnel. Indecent as the same but no decent label.

Looks like a standard base fitting, so all handles should fit.
