I can’t speak for @tompoland but for me, a few scratches are less unsightly than a rubber mat.
Similar to how people buy a lovely brand new car and then put a huge black bonnet bra on to cover up those ugly stone chips 🤔
I totally understand people wanting to protect expensive items though and as with everything in coffee, it’s whatever makes you happy.
One thing I really don’t get is how you see YouTubers videoing their workflow with actual commercial grade machines and literally treating everything like a Fabergé egg.
Back on topic, the Bianca came with a wire rack that I always thought was an elegant solution. Looks in keeping with the machine but protects the top of the case from scratches. Perhaps there’s something similar for other machines.
