I really dont understand the hype for this machine. It has a lot of flaws that you would hate if you think about it:
-it has a minuscule drip tray- this is really bad- imagine pavoni- you must empty it after 1-2 shots-clean it daily- or use a cup to catch the left water-
- it must be filled manually at each shot- the most hated thing for me when doing multi-shots or when I did coffee meetings at my place was when we had to refill the tank cause it was low- you do this to cheap machines flair/robot not at 1.5k machines- this is something again cheap and annoying
-it’s not a lever, it’s advertised as a lever but it’s not and it cannot push high flows like a lever, it wont do hammer style shots under a lot of flow in pi
-it starts really slow, you push start and wait depending on the temp of the water you put it you just wait- this is super annoying again- the ground coffee sits in the basket exposed to air for minutes before you can pull a shot-
- the fact that you have to purge after each shot is again annoying. Why not just fill with certain volume of water and use it all? There are too many extra steps needed to be done for such a “smart modern machine” you must babysit it way too much. With a evo leva I just grind pull lever be done.
I wont go into the software bugs as those are fixable and it’s an early version, but I just dont see the hype of this, it would annoy the fk everyday using it. That is why I dont and never liked flairs/robots/mypresso and so on.
I guess this product is hardly pushed by the media influencers bonanza, and also people really wanted a smart espresso maker after the decent being on the market but did not want to pay 4-5k $ for one. I guess both timemore and meticulous are so well received as a much cheaper alternative to lagom p64 and decent espresso but at ⅓ of it’s price.
