Great to have another La Marzocco owner here, pretty sure that makes two of us 😅 Congrats on the new machine, you’re in for a treat, and for people regularly telling you you could’ve bought X machine for X thousand pounds less.

So nice….. I am just trying to convince myself to spend the money… think it would be perfect in terms of size the looks and making great drinks without too much tinkering 👍

So some random questions… Did you get a water testing kit with it ? Are you using bottled or filtered for the machine ? Is it as quick to heat up as has been said ? Or is it a longer period if you want to make milk drinks from turning on the machine? cheers Matt

Not to jump in and answer on behalf of @"KyleT"#495 but I can confirm the Linea Mini heats up incredibly quick, well under 10 mins for the brew boiler, not far off 10 for steam at 1.5 bar. If you leave the steam at the default 2.0 it takes slightly longer, but since I like my milk to stay in the pitcher and not all over the kitchen I lowered the pressure. With that in mind I’d say the claimed warmup times of the Micra are probably accurate. Mine also came with a water drop test although I know my water is the hardest of hard so I use Lockhills exclusively. It’s not the perfect scale-free water, but it’s a risk I’m knowingly taking.

@"MattH"#p36927 Hi, no water testing kit came with it. I’ve heard from others who have purchased the Micra that despite the manual mentioning water testing kits they didn’t receive one either. I am putting only Tesco Ashbeck in to it. About 5mins and its ready to go both brew and steam, i will normally let it warm for 15-20mins though.

@"Cuprajake"#p36937 its grey, i saw everyone posting pictures of the white one with the occasional red or black but never saw a grey. Also, grey is the only colour where the back plate (where the two gauges are) is painted in the same colour.

Although LM emailed me this morning to say I can’t stack my codes, ah well.

They did offer a £50 voucher towards a class.

Looks great! One thing I never understood on those machines: why is the gauge reading 9bar when the machine is idling?

MediumRoastSteam This also confused me.. the manual says it’s normal at least… “in normal operation the coffee group pressure gauge can read anywhere from 0-12 bar”. 🤷‍♂️

I wondered this too, there’s a detailed explanation on HB:

The brew hydraulic circuit is quite complex in the LMLM. The brew pressure gauge does not measure the actual pressure at the puck. It measures the pressure inside the brew boiler that is integrated into the brewgroup. The brew pressure is measured at a 4-way cross fitting, which leads into the brew boiler.

When the machine is idle, the brew pressure gauge should indicate 12-bar. There is a pressure relief valve just behind the drip tray that can be adjusted to maintain this pressure. It should be adjusted so that at idle, the pressure does not exceed 12-bar, but should be right at or just under that value. You can adjust it easily with a wrench (17mm as I recall) or even with your fingers if it isn’t hot. Adjust, flush water with the brew padle for a second or so, then watch the pressure after you turn off the brew paddle. It should quickly rise and settle at 12-bar. It should hold this pressure for a considerable amount of time, like 30-minutes or longer. (if it doesn’t hold the adjusted pressure for long, then a check valve or something is leaking and you should contact LM for service - they were quite helpful when I had a check valve go bad and the indicated pressure would drop in a short time idling).

Also for those that were interested, LM did refund - I actually did end up placing a second order, they just refunded the first so I kept the second cheaper order, though apparently you are not allowed the 10% off and the barista course! So @MattH I guess they will contact you saying you can’t have the barista course?

2 things…the pressure gauge inside the LM is not unique at all in what it measures, most machines do it that way because it’s the easiest way.

It would be nice if LM donated to freeflarum, referencing our forum coffeetime (not to us of course)…Just to see a manufacturer appreciate that the free provision of forums is a good thing to have in this world and help freeflarum keep going.

Of course they won’t…such is life.

Totally agree with both statements. Can’t see why LM is any different from other manufacturers in terms of appreciation of the free provision of forums. In which case FreeFlarum should be receiving quite a significant amount (they are the manufacturers after all, not the consumers). So we would also expect ECM, Lelit, ACS, Niche, Mazzer, Olympia - to name a few - to make a donation. If each of them donated £100 (spare change for them)….
