Is the forum being buggy and slow for others? This is across android and also my pc at work.

Yesterday it was for me. Today its OK.

@"Cuprajake"#p37190 I think if they run an update, or are backing things up it can be. Updates run in the background and upgrade forum after forum, which slows the servers down. However better that taking all the forums down to do an update. Yesterday was a bit laggy at times, but today is fine. It's not laggy today, you you may want to refresh the cache.

It doesn't seem to gobble up as much cpu time as a certain other coffee forum does at times.

It can struggle to load occasionally, like this morning. Resolves itself.

Even if every one donates one euro a year, that’s 808 euro a year. On that note, my iPhone calendar had long been set to remind me of anniversary payment some time this month. My request to all members is this: **Please donate, what ever you can.** Assuming we spend £30 a month on coffee beans, that’s £360 a year. Conservatively, I do think we will spend at least £150-£200 a year. Am sure, we can can afford to donate at least £2 a year to help them and us to stay afloat. It’s not a huge ask, IMHO. I know the current living conditions are difficult. We all need to save as much as we can. But, if we can spend money on machines, tools and beans purchases, so **we can afford to donate.** I am sorry, if any one find this request uncomfortable. They don’t have to, if they can’t. Some may state it is cheaper to host our own server. But, we are looking at a very high level, ignoring non-regulars. 😊 Edit: We have contributed a lot of money; however, I think, we had donated just a little since the end of Aug 22. You would know the details more than any of us on this forum. IMO, we could some more on a regular basis.

@"DavecUK"#p37212 Traditionally I have always run a real workstation but switched to a tiny hp low power unit. Still ok for photo work but that forum at times has taken 60%+ of the processor time for a short period which is a bit much for it. Worse still sometimes the fan comes on - highly unusual and odd periods of 60% wont do that. ;) Still trying to find out what that is when it happens. I have a suspicion.

I yesterday received the below email from Ko-Fi at my corporate office email address, with regards to my Freeflarum contribution. Not sure why at my corporate email, unless I was using it when I confirmed the donation. However, I am loth to click on the link, until I know that this is legit (not malware, spyware, etc.). Have you seen this type of email before? Thanks.

JHCCoffee That’s fine. It’s a genuine email from them, IMO.

You will only receive an email to the address we provide on the page. I always use aliases. I also received one, did click and took me to the private message / note section of the page. You don’t need to take any action or click that link, as we all specify Coffeetime to mark the donations.

If in doubt, the donors may forward the copy of the donation acknowledgement email to info@freeflarum.com and request them to manually mark the donations from Coffeetime. They would manually mark and reply quickly.

JHCCoffee It would only send to you if that’s the email that paid…nothing spyware or anything about freeflarum or the forum. Looks like a security anti fraud check to me.

Is it only me but for the past 20 hours or so the forum has been very slow and having and sorts of connectivity issues?

It’s been the case for me at least. Connection timeout, bad gateways… all sorts. Even now, it has taken me a few attempts to post in the past 10 minutes.

Likewise I have had issues since yesterday. Looking at the freeflarum status board there was an issue last night so maybe related:

“Our database server crashed due to high load & low server memory. I have restarted it, so all forums should be back up now.”

There was an issue yesterday and probably a little the day before. It’s all OK now. I don’t believe our forum is causing it fortunately and I do everything I can with the configuration to keep our server load as low as possible.

Could barely access all day today again and tried to log in and said ‘incorrect password’ even though I use a saved password.

Went to reset it and didn’t even recognise my email!

Clearly some problems behind the scenes.

Also I notice it’s device specific. I was able to access on my laptop (Safari on Mac) but unable to access on my phone (Safari on iOS)

It’s been unavailable to me most of the past two days, either the screen Ernie1 put up or the page stays trying to load and doesn’t. Mostly from safari on iphone. Been unavailable the past hour or so, I just managed to get it to work on a desktop now

I switched on the progressive web app extension for the forum2 or 3 days ago. The server guys assured me it shouldn’t cause undue server load or problems. These issues with the server started happening shortly after and we’re a big forum.

So I turned it off just know. Let’s see if it improves things and I’ll ask them to check the server logs for our forum. Probably coincidence, but no point taking chances.
