It varies for me - always much worse on the phone, but sometimes on the desktop.
I suspect part of the problem is that a thread loads the entire thing - all messages since the start - at times. I’m not sure if it depends how the page is entered, but on the “What’s in your cup” that’s a good 10 seconds to load for me, and then all the subsequent images/etc. to render as needed.

Maybe the local caching should reduce that, but isn’t sometimes, or it’s just something else. ¯\(ツ)/¯
