LMSC Just curious, if your old TD is still working, why did you buy another TD (heat pump)? Thx
The energy savings are enormous. I think the old one cost at least 3 times more than the current one and didn’t do the clothes any good. The old run ran into around £2.70 minimum per dry, even more in winter as it was in the shed. The heat pump unit costs around 70p and holds a much larger load. In 5-8 years it will be cost neutral, more convenient and better for clothes.
In the same way my 16 year old fridge still worked…but I purchased an inverter fridge (Samsung) for around £600 on a good discount (it was normally £850 or £900). It’s colder than my own fridge, which I don’t think was getting anywhere near cold enough. I did the numbers before hand and it’s saving even more energy than I thought (my fridge must have got inefficient after 15 years). Payback is likely to be within 4 years on electricity savings alone….and I have a better fridge while it pays back.
It’s not always cost effective worth hanging on to older tech or worn out stuff…
P.S. My old plasma TV being another thing I will never turn on again 47W per hour…no way.
