On the one hand this doesn’t seem weird enough to be an April Fool’s. A Niche with a massive hopper or something would’ve been more of a joke.

On the other, for a machine known for it’s great workflow, it seems slightly weird to have to change burrs to switch coffee types as if anyone would actually just casually switch burrs multiple times a day.

You don’t need to. But if you want to grind correctly for filter (as in, be more optimised for that method, extract better flavours etc) you are better off with the more appropriate burr set.

Igm45 Could be an April fools?!

Don’t think so. I went quite far into the purchase flow, and finish just short of hitting buy (typed all details, etc, etc). I don’t think anyone joking would allow it to go that far into the checkout process.

Igm45 I thought that, but then wouldn’t they have gone for super high end named burrs rather than seemingly generic ‘hardened steel’ burrs? (No mention of mazzer in the flats details)

I am really tempted. I’d hoped for a flat-burr Niche. I was kinda hoping for a new look.

Seems a bit silly to miss out on functionality for the sake of looks but I really do not like how it looks.

Maybe I can put a paper bag over it when not in use.

Luckily I am at the start of this hobby so happy to wait and watch - will see how I get on with the 064s and my hand grinders… but it has jumped the list over the df83 now as a future purchase.

He was the first influencer on it, the rest are following suit haha

Decent De1pro v1.45 - Niche Duo - Niche Zero - Decent is the best machine ever made -

Lance had also posted on his insta story that he just ordered it - it where I first heard about it - then went to checkout the niche website 👍

My initial thoughts were April fools.
What followed was - were is my wallet ?!

On one hand I wish this was our few months ago as only changed to df83 as wanted larger flat burrs. On the other hand I’m really happy with results I’m getting so decided to take a deep breath and wait it out. If it turns out as good as the original I might go for it as I do like the looks and workflow.

Presumably grind time should be pretty speedy on this one too? Another reason I’m very tempted.

They list the grind time on their website. 1g per second for espresso 2g per sec for filter.

        Ahh yes.

Slower than I expected but I guess that’s down to motor speed. Still, not a slouch.
