It’s great the amount of interest this announcement has generated but can’t help and feel the thread is going in circles and getting unnecessary heated with a lot of it.
Duo’s key feature is the ability swap burrs easily and quickly while maintaining good alignment. No other SD grinder to my mind offers this and it’s a great innovation, although I’m sure others will follow after. DF83d perhaps?
Totally understand the reservations given cost and so on, especially for those that only either drink filter or espresso. It’s a nice option to have if you do want to dabble but a luxury and theoretically an added expense although how much it would save is speculation.
If you’re in doubt there’s no harm in waiting and seeing what happens.
What I do find interesting is that I’ve seen a lot of users comment that they would rather wait than make a potential saving on Kickstarter prices and other early bird discounts on other unreviewed products. Granted Niche is a more trusted brand and you’re guaranteed a product rather than the Kickstarter risk you take - but you aren’t making a saving by pre-ordering now, so don’t feel the pressure if you’re uncertain. But for those of you that this does fit the bill for great, the rest of us look forward to hearing more about it.
