I’ve borrowed my Dad’s x54 the last few days just out of curiosity and it’s made me realise how much I’d love a timed on-demand grinder. The Super Jolly is absolutely fantastic in the cup and I’ll keep it as a bit of a museum piece, but I converted mine from a doser version to doserless so it has the massive Bakelite style rotary switch and no timer. It works but it’s not great for pulsing to top up a dose.

I’m not too fussed on accuracy as I’ll top up or spoon out if it’s off, just a fast timed on-demand grinder that’s as robust as the Mazzer and will taste as good/better in the cup.

Has anyone used one? Good? Bad?

Ernie1 Treat yourself to a used Mythos One…..the original not the slow speed. 75mm burrs mounted at a 45 degree angle, so retention is more or less non existent…..best tasting coffee that I ever made (well, the original Compak K10 was tastier but with 20gm retention!\0

i had the eureka zenith 65, that was a timed doser, i personally didnt rate it, its was used, but the grind wasnt the best and i found myself forever cleaning it out, that was with a short hopper

Thanks, if it was down to just me then that would’ve been tempting but sadly it won’t get past the boss.

I think they look a lot bigger in a kitchen….unless you have a very large kitchen!

Ernie1 The hairdresser point is a mighty leverage indeed😀.
I second @dfk41 on the Mythos. I have had mine since 2017, changed the burrs to NS Titanium and it has been delivering non stop. Good luck with your search.

That’s a very good point actually. I just checked and it’s nearly 20cm taller than the Super Jolly!

DavecUK it is tall, but mine is behind closed doors. Not visible. I have also did some modifications. I also have taken out the hopper and replaced it with a small container that would take the beans for 4-5 double shots. I have put weight on top that ensure the same gravity for the beans and my grinds are +/- 0.1 g, which is good for me.

Ernie1 I believe the small hopper on the slow spin will fit and reduce the height quite substantially

I’ve just seen that you can fit the titanium Mythos burrs in the Atom 75. It’s tempting to give that a go. Mythos burrs and a 3.5 sec dose is very appealing.

@DavecUK I searched the forum and noticed you did quite a favourable review. I’ve also seen people online have reported some clogging and mess but it’s unclear if it’s user error from people just not used to grinders that quick and grinds missing the PF.

There was a Ceado E37S for sale on this forum. That’s a flat burr grinder, 83mm burrs.

It’s quite a compact beast, and, at the time, it was one of the smallest ones you could buy.

That’s good to hear thanks, have you got a photo of your hopper setup? It sounds similar to what I’d do (a few doses in the hopper at a time).

Ernie1 Happy to oblige 😀. Art-wise, not the best but it does it for me. If interested, I can tell you what exactly I have done step by step.

If my wife saw these pictures she would not be happy, too much dust visible.
The dark glass is very tightly fitting so air access is restricted.

John_Yossarian Looks good! I would love another Mythos but having made the mistake of going down to a small grinder I would be in the dog house if I even mentioned claiming more of the kitchen bench!

Is there a difference between Nuova Simonelli and VA?
