Honestly… to be clear: I have the 3D printed version a friend printed for me.
With my machine (Elizabeth) and my grinder (Niche Duo, and beforehand a Zero) if I just grind into the PF, or into the cup and flip over, tap, tamp and pull I get visible channeling using a bottomless PF. WDT fixed the problem.
But using the tool is more consistent, takes less time and gives me a nicer looking, mess free shot all the time.
If you don’t need WDT, then there’s no point using it. Why add another step to your routine?
