Well Dave, here is my take on it for what it is worth… I have to admit for £99 I am chuffed to bits.
It is so well made, weighty and solid. Everything fits together nice and tight. Even the lid and handle are all metal. The opening at the top is large enough to make pouring in the beans a breeze. The grind size mechanism dial, again was firm and tight with real definite clicks … quality. I set it at 55 clicks for my V60 pourover and ground it effortlessly in about 38-40 seconds and it took about 3:10 to pour down. The grinds seemed very uniform and the drink it made was very nice. No hint of bitteness or sourness just lovely coffee albeit if I am honest, a tad thin.
Now, I am sure there are other hand grinders out there at the same sort of price point that may well perform as well, but how many with the addition of the motor and of such quality build? I expected to pay a fair bit more for a quality hand grinder but this…. Okay I am not a connoisseur like a lot of you on here, I simply do not have the taste buds for it and maybe you that do, could pull this apart taste wise. But, for people like me who would rather drink proper coffee instead of the instant tripe of this world, without paying the earth for decent equipment in order to achieve that, then this hits the spot.
