If you have pre ordered I would love to know why. For me it's interesting: 58mm basket in a lever, 9 bar or 6 bar spring or direct. PID. Optional mobile phone app for pressure profile and shot recording. That's quite a mix. The creator of the Argos, Ross, posted on Discord yesterday to say that he has 282 pre orders. He is building 500 machines for the first batch for shipping April. He also posted to say that if pre orders exceed 500 by April he will order parts for another 500. Sounds like progress.

As I said in the other forum, if Ross (or Reiss?) ever decided to sell a bare bones package for self assembly, in much the same lines as Westfield cars, I would seriously consider buying one. Price could reflect savings in assembly labour, some parts and perhaps some taxes.

With shipping it comes to just over $1000 to send to UK. What would be the expected bill for vat/tax etc?

If orders get closer to 500 then he orders parts for another 500. Maybe even 1000 if it manages to meet all its targets and demand rises. Time will tell. 🤔

At the moment he seems to have an open field with no defenders or goalkeeper to stop him as long as he can make it down the end of the pitch. There is really no other competitor in that space.

DavecUK thing is, I ordered my Argos in December 2021. The original ETA was April 2022.

Since then the Streitman and Nurri have arrived on the espresso bench.

So for me, it’s unlikely I’ll keep it.

Still, I’ll give it a whirl. But if I kept it the Streitman (unlikely) or Nurri would have to go (VERY unlikely).

I’m probably a bit of an outlier though.

Yes! I just wish I’d been in a position to order one when they were available. Going to guess they’ll jump significantly in price when they are available for purchase due to supply chain and material cost increases.

I can see myself getting one of these. They’re the type of thing I’ll look at over and over again for months before eventually succumbing to the temptation and buying it…..then having to figure out where to put it.

I have no idea what he is planning, he will really only get some production models built this week and I don’t think any of his three prototypes have gone to anyone.
Anyhow machines should hit some owners in a couple of weeks and we will start to get some feedback.

I’ve decided to try to buy one when the next round of machines become available. I’ll be putting my much modified Silvia (the subject of a restoration thread on this forum) up for sale soon to partially fund it.

Norvin - Makes sense. As for me, I’m sure it will be a lovely machine. But at the moment (let alone back when the campaign started) I am (was) not comfortable in putting any money down. Far too many unknowns and not a great deal of feedback from users without vested interests.

Same for the Schuma counter top water distiller, and the Londinium Vectis.

So yeah, whenever the real thing shows up and people start using and reporting back (hopefully on an open forum rather than a closed one) I’ll then decide whether it’s something for me.
