I tend to buy a kilo of medium roast SO Honduras Aldea Capucas direct from the roaster (Wogan Coffee - bloody legends) for £22/kg. It’s lovely, and very reasonable for the quality you get. They have a long history of roasting (50-odd years) and are one of the few roasters I have bought from who seem to have almost no discernible roast defects present.
They also have more exciting things like a delicious light roast Colombian that tastes of gooseberry and wine gums, or a Kenyan Peaberry which tastes of vanilla and vine tomatoes for the same sort of money. It’s remarkable how much value they offer compared to other roasters I have tried, and their product is delicious.
…I’m very aware I sound like a paid shill. I solemnly promise I am just very a happy customer who wants to shop local, and for them to continue to roast delicious coffee for many more generations.
