Just a quick heads up to advise you to avoid Facebook Market Place if you find one on there. I was ripped off last week by someone supposedly selling one in Newton Stewart, foolishly I paid for it up front by bank transfer @ £295, and then the person subsequently blocked me. I'm currently trying to obtain a refund via my bank but I'm not hopeful. The fraud is call APP or the Authorised Push Payment Scam. Tony

Thanks for the heads up, I think I was talking to the same person last night (lightly used white Zero for 295), as soon as they said they didn't have PayPal I backed off and started digging into their profile etc. When I called him out on it he tried claiming I was the scammer and then blocked me. I'm sticking to eBay if I can. I reported him and the ad has been deleted, but it'll just appear again under another account which they've gained access to. Sorry to hear you got caught by these scum, hope you manage to get your money back.

I was once scammed out of $300 for an item. Fortunately my bank and Paypal covered me, due to the “false refund” nature of the scam. Beware of Reddit as well. Deal only with people who are regular participants in coffee forums. Ask for a live picture (one with the person in it and also a piece of paper with today's date) before transferring funds. Then use Paypal Business (not Friends and Family) and pay for 50% max until the item arrives. Don’t resend money after a supposed refund of the first payment.

Better still, do as I did………cancel your Facebook account! There is absolutely nothing good on there and the authorities do zero about scams. How often have you seen for example Sage machines costing over a grand being sold for less than £100………….bitcoin trading adverts that are illegal as in order to advertise a financial services product you have to have FCA approval……………..Martin Lewis is sick and tired of firms using old photos of him to promote dodgy financial dealing………..if he cannot get FB to stop it, what chance do we have?

Agreed, I’d always rather take the hit on the fees for peace of mind. @"dfk41"#4 i would like to ditch it but unfortunately I have some family on there who I would have no other way of contacting. It's also useful with a 1 year old to be able to dump the stuff he's grown out of - I don't want to bother with eBay and shipping.

As Jake says, use PayPal and pay the fees. I always add the fees if I'm buying something online

Thanks guys, I smelled a rat as soon as I transferred the funds, stupid I know particularly since I've bought thousands of pounds worth of stuff from the various forums over the years with not a single issue. If I manage to get my refund then I'm just going to buy a new Zero from Niche but have to say trying to find out the warranty situation on their website is a joke unless I'm going senile in my old age likewise with Facebook market place trying to report a fraud is practically impossible fas as I can see although in saying that I rarely use FB.

No the Niche I 'bought' was black and evidently the build date was 2021. I suspect my scammer hijacked an Irish guy's account no idea how he managed that though but I have a photo of the Zero plus screenshots of the sales conversation, as soon as I pressed him or her for postal information they blocked me. Twotone2 Tony, if you can do a bit more detective work, as in screen shots of other fraudulent transactions he has been involved in, then eventually the police will take notice. The point will come where it is obvious he is going about defrauding folks on purpose.

I then sorted the list out into nearest first. Lo and behold exactly the same advert appeared 3 places lower down. The scammer had zero feedback but had used the exact same advert and reduced the buy it now to £500. I reported it and it was removed straight away, but that does not always happen

Hi guys, I’ve just been informed by my bank that I’m being reimbursed for the amount that I was scammed out of ie £295.

I’m actually flabbergasted I thought there was no chance of getting my money back.

Have to say a huge thanks to both banks however the receiving bank did drag their feet somewhat but I suspect that was because my own bank provided them with the incorrect second name of the bank account that I sent the money too despite me sending them screenshots of the ‘transaction’ on facebook marketplace place.

My bank had the recipient named as Daniels Peter Stik when in fact the last name is Stikuts

If you buy a Duo with both burr sets, then as far as grinders go, you will effectively be done. Even if you spent 1000s more the difference would be very small.

Hi! I’ve just signed up to say THANK YOU for this thread. I’ve just been scammed by the same guy and feeling absolutely sick about it. I’ve just reported him to my bank and to the police via action fraud and it’s incredibly helpful to see that I’m not the only one. No idea whether I will get my money back and do so angry at myself for being an idiot!

Anyway, this is the thread I found when I googled his name and location and I’m incredibly grateful for it. I hope you don’t mind that I’ve linked it in my report to the police as evidence that it’s a pattern of scam behaviour. If anybody else (now or in the future!) wants my crime reference number to link what’s been happening, just get in touch.

Worst part is….. I still really really want a niche zero! 😂

I sent an enquiry message to his ad and he asked for my address. I’m tempted to reply with the URL for this thread and some expletives, but I know that’ll just tip him off to change ID and stop anyone else being saved by you guys! Thank you!

A 1Zpresso JX-Pro is for “sale” using the same pictures (there are three offers, one is buy now, the other two are auctin). The seller has 0 actions so far, doesn’t reply to messages, and I saw that a few have already taken the bait. The key is in “shipping after seven days”. I suspect that in seven days they clear the money and can disappear. It states PayPal as payment but very fishy. Just a bit of warning flag.
