The Duo is unique. Irrespective of our choice of a brew - filter or espresso, we don’t want two grinders on the bench. My JX pro has gone to the garage. The choice of a swap is a massive convenience and is a luxury for some of us.
When we got the Duo, swapping burrs was easy and is still.
The routine was remove the burrs, clean the chamber and the burrs set, and change. This takes about 1:5-2 mins for me.
Month 1:
2 espressos - 2 filters - 2 espressos a day. This is 2 swaps.
Half the time, I wanted an espresso between filters.
So, this is a minimum of 60 swaps in a month, ignoring in between swaps.
I was happily swapping. As the month drew closer, my enthusiasm didn’t change.
Month 2, 1H:
A lot contributed to where we are now.
Better appreciation of aroma and flavour from filter from some one who still drinks instant (🤷🏼♂️) and can’t generally tell apart.
Concerns about the frequency of swap on the longevity of the threads over time.
Laziness kicking in steadily resulting in no filter for days together, until either the filter or espresso for the day became a norm - basically one swap a day.
I may have probably done 15 swaps during the first 15 days of month 2.
We then decided to give filter a chance during week days as we enjoyed drinking the filter coffee.
Last 6 weeks :
- Till date, we never regretted where we are today.
In short, we genuinely gave it a shot and wanted the daily swap to work. Perhaps, the frequency of the daily swap did us in. 🤷🏼♂️
Perhaps, some one can try swapping daily at a reduced rate and share his/her unbiased experience. The challenge is one is likely to require 2 swaps a day unless one is happy with the filter the next morning.
The Duo is a great concept; it is a massively convenient; and, perhaps it is ahead of the curve. 😊
