LMSC Adrianmsmith With the high-command approval assumed in place, hope you get another opportunity. Haha.
HarveyMushman The name and the design are not to my tastes at all. I think the current Decent looks far far better.
HarveyMushman Cuprajake It just looks a bit awkward to me. I say this as a designer, it feels ‘over designed’. I really like the current one, it feels more considered and resolved. Each to their own though. Where did that name come from??
Cuprajake quick run through - showing its not as complex to use as you think, even when editing profiles
james65477564 Cuprajake I have had one for 18 months or so. Similar to you I was initially very sceptical, then less sceptical and now I am a total convert! Interestingly my children happily use the decent and find it intuitive/natural because of the table. My wife was more comfortable with the bianca so there is a generational difference (at least in our house!).
Adrianmsmith james65477564 My wife never forgave me for selling sage dual boiler!! Still wont let me have a decent 😎
JammyDodger I’d be interested in how many people’s partners/non-coffee nerds use their coffee machine and what that machine is. I also have a DE1 and my wife uses it every day. She would balk at an E61 mainly due to the fact the DE1 is gravimetric and stops both the shot and the milk steaming at the right time without her having to do anything.
HarveyMushman JammyDodger I’d be interested in how many people’s partners/non-coffee nerds use their coffee machine and what that machine is. Mine will happily do a low-effort pourover but not espresso. I don’t think it’s the machine though rather just a lack of interest in learning. She’s an interior designer and interestingly the Decent and the LM are the only ones she actually likes the look of rather than the ‘chrome boxes’ as she calls them. I’ve always thought the Decent is nicely designed enough to appeal to ‘non coffee’ people given its smaller size and inoffensive looks.
Jason1wood Girlfriend uses the Gaggia Classic but can’t steam milk as she’s not comfortable with the temp changes/button presses, but she’s looking forward to getting to grips with the Evo when I finally move in. Sorry it’s not Decent related
Cuprajake LMSC not with that basket, ive used the old style filter brew with a larger basket, the basket above is £40 plus post so im tempted to get one
LMSC Cuprajake the basket above is £40 plus post so im tempted to get one Not too bad, if that does what it says to your satisfaction.
Yorkie_Al I got one of the Filter 3 baskets and a spare bag of filter papers I’ve used it several times with a decaf bean - Foundry Popacayan - and it’s made a very pleasant brew. You do need to play with the profile settings to get the water volumes and flow rates correct but once adjusted it’s then a matter of changing the grind for different beans. The Popacayan is being ground at 85 on the Niche Zero. Once the settings are right I can just press a button and go do something else while the machine does its magic.
