When we moved house in COVID I got shafted on everything we bought

Table, TV, fridge freezer, washer dryer, dining chairs, espresso machine lol

Think it’s me 😂😂😂

Decent De1pro v1.45 - Niche Duo - Niche Zero - Decent is the best machine ever made -

dutchy101 I’ve decided to stop buying expensive toasters and kettles. They don’t last and aren’t worth what they cost

Dualit classic 2 slot (the expensive old fashioned one), I have had mine since 1984…same heating element

Sounds like I might’ve just had a bad experience with Dualit, lots of good reviews online.

      Ernie1 We’ve got a Rowlett. Love it.

Couldn’t get a simpler toaster. All user serviceable and replaceable parts - at reasonable cost.

They aren’t all made in the UK anymore, so if that matters to you then look closely at the model info.

Just get one of those conveyer belt toasters, they’re awesome.

Ernie1 we have a couple of those (much smaller size) in work but it is a big canteen with a lot of people through for breakfast. I like the toast they produce a lot, but, people being people - will never leave the speed dial alone and your toast will either be burned or not toasted if you don’t do a sacrificial run before adjusting!!. I don’t like wasting anything especially food so I don’t bother with it anymore!

It very much depends on the model range you buy, there are basically 2 ranges, one built like everyone else and one built to last….or used to be.

😂 We have the 6 slice of this - and love it…..great toast. Only caveat is if you like to toast think things.

        Dialing in toast?

dutchy101 haha yes, in a sense!! It’s a wire rack that moves through a heated area and the toast falls off the wire as the wire turns and returns on a pulley/cog wheel. Is this the same as the above toaster? (I hope I am describing it correctly). So, by increasing or decreasing the speed of the wire rack through the heating elements you toast the bread for longer or shorter!

Well, the plot thickens! This morning an email dropped in from Amazon saying there is a product recall on my toaster due to a fire hazard! In the blurb it does say to contact them and request either a free exchange or a refund. So, I am going to ring them tomorrow, take the refund, send them back the one they sent me and buy another.

Since this is my thread, I am going to divert it away from the topic slightly and ask for suggestions.

          The requirements are:

          2 slots

Ability to take non standard shapes would be a bonus but not a deal breaker

Not really fussy about looks or design

It has to produce good toast though. None of this dark one side, light the other

          Budget circa £150

This is the Duallit one I think.

Hopefully, I can learn something from you! I am more interested in toast quality than having something that will see its owner through to the next millenium! I had even thought of Sage toasters god forbid

I almost bought a Sage toaster due to the “a bit more” function which is genius but the reviews were a bit too mixed for the price

            Feck me.

You know shrinkflation is real when warbies fits in your toaster
