DavecUK LMSC No, with the clues, you really have to have seen the films, if you have seen the movie 9probably more than once), it’s really quite easy. As a clue…4 is a cult movie. As for 1…nope,…close, very close though.
LMSC DavecUK I did write Aliens initially! You said No, unless for missing that s…. 🙄😊 That’s harsh! 😂
-Mac DavecUK -Mac Well done…cartman does the mostly bit as I remember, in a small cartman voice Mostly.
DavecUK Mostly (Ripley) =Aliens Learning Computer (gasp gasp gasp booom!!!) = “So you think this is air you’re breathing” = Matrix 20 miles, 20 miles (robot) = Barada (robot) =The Day The earth Stood Still (1951) Just 2 left, one is super easy….the other a little harder
LMSC DavecUK Am sure Mr Paxman would have given it me! duty calls! have a good week every one! :-) Edit : If do reply, I’ll be kind of on expected lines!😀

SiblingChris Doram I think you meant 16kb sir for your zx81 expansion! If you so much as breathed on those to disrupt the connection into the back the machine would crash…and after you’d waited so long to load something from a cassette tape! So frustrating!

You are correct of course, 16kb - thank you for setting this straight. It was a decade of two before we had 16mb of RAM, wasn’t it? Now edited and corrected… Which reminds me of another one: remember the days when we only had a short window to go back and correct mistakes in our posts before they were locked in forever? Here’s to another good thing that came out of the VS acquisition of the Voldemort forum.
LMSC MS Dos Command prompt even for basic copying, moving, etc — unlike the current convenience of windows based 56kb dial modem for internet!

Lake_M How about 70’s audio gear! Remember…… Silver brushed steel front plates, easy to fix, discrete components, lit up power meters, heavy linear transformers. And smoke/nicotine stained internals. ☹️ Here’s one I’m trying to bring back from the dead!
SiblingChris Lake_M just get one if these 😃… https://uk.yamaha.com/en/products/audio_visual/hifi_components/a-s2200/index.html
DavecUK I used to love the look of the separates, especially with the bulb lit VU meters… I assume it needs recapping, even if only to be on the safe side for any electrolytics? I used to have a Maranz receiver, pretty sure it was Maranz, it was like this one on Ebay…I purchased it used in 1981.
Lake_M DavecUK Yes, Ill probably need to do a full recap. I can see it’s already had a bit of a service, so some have been done at some point. One of the power amp modules is fried - should be able to get a replacement, fingers crossed! And a proper clean to get all the tar off🤮
Doram DavecUK I used to have a Maranz receiver, pretty sure it was Maranz, it was like this one on Ebay…I purchased it used in 1981. We had the exact same Marantz model as in your photo! The buttons used to turn in such a satisfying way, it felt like quality! It was really frustrating that when it broke down the lab wasn’t able to fix it. Went back and forth a few times and eventually I gave up. Got an NAD AV 713 instead, and it’s still going strong after almost 30 years - never had a problem with it - but now it’s all files streaming to WiFi speakers directly from the NAS, isn’t it?
