A daft question (for a change!). Does the Clever come in 2 sizes? I have one (kindly donated by @"MWJB"#139 ages ago. When I make a 15gm/225ml brew it just seems so lost! I am going to double up on those amounts to get more of a mug full but just wondered if they also do a smaller one.

@"dfk41"#p52656 There is a smaller version that realistically holds up to about 270ml of water, but stock of these seems intermittent. I think Hasbean are the importers, but they don't have stock at the moment.

The 300ml Clever that I ordered from the Spanish website that I linked to. This morning I received shipping info for it. So, including shipping nit cost around £21.50. If it turns up, I will be more than happy

When I got my ‘sorry out of stock’ email even though I ordered the black one I would have expected them to offer me a different colour one in the email had they had any left at all. But I guess they didn’t. Seems like I missed htem by a day.

LMSC You must have received the last one! I ordered first and was told no stock of the one I wanted. I then asked if they had any stock and was told no…..so, well done! If there is vat to pay on my Spanish one then fair enough. It is coming via Royal Mail who informed me today so we will know the answer soon

Gagaryn From the Gov.uk website……You will not have to pay anything to the delivery company to receive goods worth less than £135 unless they’re gifts over £39 or excise goods (for example, alcohol and tobacco).

So, hopefully there will be nowt to pay.

Yup - that is how it should work if the seller had collected the VAT. But they didn’t…

Under £135: supplier pays VAT + duty directly to HMRC
Over £135: you pay VAT + duty on receipt of the goods. The courier will handle that and charge you a handling fee.

So nothing due for you.

MediumRoastSteam That’s all correct - but as I’ve explained twice before and now a third time, it appears the seller didn’t charge the VAT on DFK’s order (as they should have per your link).

So one of two things will happen: He’ll either get lucky and get the item cheap (minus any VAT) or the VAT will be added with a handling fee here in the UK.

The latter is what should happen when the VAT was incorrectly not collected by the retailer but the former seems to happen quite regularly.

MediumRoastSteam You cannot tell from the invoice whether they charged VAT or not. It just shows an amount charged. If it had been VAT not charged then surely it would have said that for Customs declaration? ANyway, to end this the item was delivered this morning via the usual postman without any further fuss or fees.

Interestingly enough, a lot of users say use 60gms per litre but the instructions on the box say start at 20gms per 300mls and adjust accordingly. I was at somewhere near 20gms per 400mls so look forward to tomorrow by strengthening up the brew a bit
