Inspired by @"tompoland"#121 results I thought I would give this a try for myself. I purchased 2 Ionisers. The one on the left has the Ionising fibres poking straight out the end, the one on the right has 2 power settings and seems more expensive, but has the fibres Horizontally in the little circular area at the top. [upl-image-preview url=https://i.imgur.com/CMj7Xjf.png] Now it might be simply that the left one works and the right one just lights up an LED, however the left one definitely produces results. The right hand one, not so much. Grinding into the portafilter, no Ioniser [upl-image-preview url=https://i.imgur.com/cu7O2aK.png] Grinding into the portafilter, left hand Ioniser with fibres pointing down and towards the exiting coffee grounds [upl-image-preview url=https://i.imgur.com/ice1AZ5.png] Grinder used Niche Duo, coffee was a Brazilian Daterra. Grind medium to fine. I think the results are pretty conclusive.

Hi Dave Thanks for the link. Mine looks more like the one on the right without the pink rim. It does seem to work quite well so far. I bought it in France (€13.67 free delivery but price up now). No reviews on Amazon.fr. Missed the thread on this. How do you use it?

I point into the hopper with the beans in it and then into the spout while grinding. Not sure if the first part makes any difference.

I did sniff it this morning and there is a faint smell of ozone. Does your black one smell stronger Dave? I suspect the reason the other one isn't so good might be the way it generates the ions in the oval hole in the body rather than at the fibre probe sticking out of the end so it's easier to direct the stream of negative ions into the spout.

Absolutely, I think I've taken one for the team in that the other one is useless for my intended purpose (£5.08) down the drain. The one that works (really well ), is the one with the emitter poking straight out the end…I can even feel the ion breeze on my lips from 3 or 4cm away. The difference when filter grinding is marked! I will let you guess which was with the Ioniser.

Mine doesn’t? yes still using it and have a mains powered one on order with 4 wires to stick them on the chute and see how they go…all as a test of concept.

I wonder if fixing the tips of the generating fibres inside the spout will end up trapping a lot of grounds around them.

MBdoc It does, but it’s a bit dangerous and doesn’t look great taped to the funnel with wires trailing back to a plug
