Live are good I have 6 of their albums.
Really like The Black Circles but there are no CD’ s available to buy so I might have to download their music. Nice to see a Brit band (from Warrington) playing such great blues.
Plenty of Kirk Fletcher CD’s out there which I will check out.
Saw Joanne Shaw Taylor twice. First time she was brilliant but the second time whoever the sound engineer was wanted shooting as it was terrible, distorted and impossible to enjoy. Still I have all of her albums and they get played a lot.
We used to go to a blues club called ‘The Bronte Blues Club’ (2008 to 2015) which was about and hour and a half drive away from us.
It was in a small village hall in the village of Laycock up in the Pennine foothills once a month that held no more than about 150-200 people but thay had some of the most amazing blues players perform there from both the UK an America. Larry McCray, Matt Anderson, Eugene Hideaway Bridges, Karla Brox, Grianne Duffy, Jo Harman, Andy Fairweather Low, Matt Schofield and tons more. It was very intimate and you always got to talk to the artists during breaks or at the end of the gig.
Unfortunately, we had only joined eighteen months before it then closed due to the guys running it were getting on and needed to retire and there is nowhere near us now to go to. More annoying for me was one of my favourite American blues artists Larry McCray on one of his rare UK visits played there about a month before we knew it existed and joined.
Who would have thought this little village hall out in the back of beyond would be able to attract such blues luminaries… but it had a great reputation. Oh and one other thing it did. Whoever performed there would be asked to go to a local school earlier that day to play for the kids and introduce them to the blues and as far as I know not one refused.
