Coffee frustrations

I’m a product design student in my final year of University and I’ve decided to design something coffee-related as it’s something I’m very passionate about. I wanted to ask for some frustrations people have when making coffee whether it’s in a domestic or commercial setting, no matter how big or small they may be, so I can gauge what problems exist currently that need to be innovated on

Frustration: the gazillion coffee grinds that escape from whatever container I put them in the(grinder catch cup, portafilter basket) and sprinkle themselves across my espresso bench and the floor.

tompoland I use a big gaming pc mat under my coffee station, and it always annoyed me that however much I tried not to be messy, it got a gazillian grounds! So I designed/built a micro vacuum robot that simply cleaned up after each shot. I kind of got sidetracked when the arm to clean the NZ’s oak rest (it’s a raised surface so needed the arm to raise a little to reach) didn’t work correctly, but it was an idea. If everything is flat, it was a nice little gimmick. (Honestly it would probably take another 50-100 hours or so to make it work really correctly, but it’s pretty easy as your coffee surface and rouge layout is predefined.)

@Rafi My biggest annoyance is the amount of water wastage in pulling a shot. I typically have to run 2 shots to clean, and then use a lot of water to clean the basket and portafilter

Scales that have the display at the front. When I pour beans into a dosing tray which is sitting on the scale, the display is obscured by the container that I’m pouring the beans from. Yes, I can turn the scales around but then the display is upside down. Yes, I know, first world problem, but you did ask.

A scale with a display at the top of the scale would be better or a scale with a small arm (10cm tall?) with a display on top maybe.
