Cuprajake My dadās coffee used to be 99p for 100g - high quality, itās now Ā£1.69 for 90g
it was a long time ago when things had to be sold in standard amounts for that product. Butter 250/500g, Biscuits 150g/ 300g etc..
But the food industry manfully lobbied hard against this, promising that they would never do the very thing this was designed to preventā¦.cos they were the good guys. They got the law changed and then guess what they did!
At the moment every single company, service, utility council, our own government has never taken and tried to take so much from us. The amount we are being ripped off and getting ever less is staggering.
The stealth tax of not increasing personal allowances from 2021 to 2028 is an absolutely staggering amount of extra tax on the working populace, or those with pensions. The allowances should have risen in line with CPI inflation.
Above is what the PA should have been for the years following 2021, but of course itās stuck at Ā£12570. By the time it starts rising again in 2028 we will be paying basic rate tax on about Ā£6200 pound of income we shouldnāt have had to. Thatās Ā£1240 more every year thereafter, a perma change!
Even basic rate state pension will be bought into tax, which is a nonsenseā¦.Effectively forming a real terms reduction (thatās significant) in the amount of pension the elderly get).
So why am I mentioning thisā¦because the the most massive amount of shrinkflation every working person and pensioner will experience, the price of other things almost pale into insignificance. Itās such a big elephant in the room that the majority of the population are completely unaware of it..
P.S. For people who earn more than Minimum wage or very low salaries, those on more average salaries will find them selves in the higher rate tax bracketā¦which was intended for very high earners, not Nurses and school teachers etc.. They will be ārobbedā of even more income
