JHCCoffee indeed prefer medium dark (Full City to Full City+). I haven’t liked the fruit notes, which in most of those lighter coffees has tended to towards the sour side of things.
Given your preference, I am not surprised you find the light roast on the sour side. For me, the sour notes are mouth puckering. Perhaps, the light roasts might not be suiting your taste buds.
JHCCoffee The thought occurred to me that maybe I might prefer the taste of these light to medium coffees with a different burr. Put another way, is it possible to get decent tasting light to medium light decaf coffee flavors with the Niche Zero Mazzer burr?
I never had a niche zero and can’t comment on the Zero’s performance on the light / medium-light side of things.
Generally, I have heard folks saying the zero is suited for >= medium roasts. I know @MWJB drinks light roasts and makes great filter using the Zero.
I have a Duo. I also drink light roasts; and, although the Duo makes a great espresso with a good separation of flavours, I prefer the Duo for filter than for espresso.
Is there anyone living closer to you, who can help you pull a few shots using light-roasts coffee?
@Cuprajake may be able to share his Zero experience on your question.
