SL01 Thanks mate. Agree, it’s a faster shot. I will be happy with 25-30s for 36g, although I don’t actually believe in strict timing or the ratio. I like the 1.2.5.
The beauty of Evo is, it still produces a lovely shot even at 17s.
The bar pressure now varies from 1.5 to 2.0. Your puck tamping is at 65 pounds, I think, whereas, mine is at a third of that. 😊
My grind size (1.5) is at the upper end of the 1.2-1.6 espresso range. I will tighten the grind and see.
My grinder may be a contributing factor, while was wondering if the convex tamper could be a contributing factor to the faster pour.
I would doubt it as the convexity distributes the puck more towards the edges, gives a better seal at the edges and reduces the chances of channelling. The centre of the puck can come under more pressure, although it’s more compressed at the centre than the edges.
I may be over-thinking here! A simple solution is perhaps a tighter grind! 😊
