Robti Hi all, currently out of the puly descaler, so i have citric acid powder and wondered about using that, or what are we all using to descale, i still have pulycaffe for my backflushing duties ? Thanks
MediumRoastSteam Robti - that’s what I’d use - 25g/L, if I’m not mistaken. But I don’t. I prevent it. 😊- over 3 years (almost 4) and machine sounds identical to what it sounded on the first day. ZeroWater, distilled, RO… 80mg/L sodium bicarbonate. Happy days.
Robti MediumRoastSteam Thanks only used filtered water as i live in a soft water area since day 1, did you get yours from BB as i did on first batch and didn’t think it was that old Thanks
JHCCoffee @MediumRoastSteam has it right. Just use the right water and avoid descaling, unless you absolutely must. When I had my Lelit E, @DavecUK’s maintenance guidelines clearly cautioned against it. He or others can refresh my memory why, but I stick to that ZeroWater/sodium bicarbonate recipe these days; easy to make, one less variable to deal with, and safe for your machine.
JHCCoffee Robti MediumRoastSteam Happy to. Just buy some baking soda. Not baking powder. You want to end up with 80 mg in a liter of water. Thats 80/1000 of a gram in a liter. So you mix up a concentrate of zero water and baking soda that is 8 grams in a liter of water. You then need to dilute the concentrate by a factor of 100.
MediumRoastSteam JHCCoffee You want to end up with 8 mg in a liter of water. Just a small observation: the usual recipe is 80mg/L. I personally use 100mg/L.
JHCCoffee MediumRoastSteam Nighttime typo. Absolutely right. If the OP wants to get into the thick of it, just search water and he/she will see my “what water recipe do you use” query, wherein Rob1 and CoyoteOldMan made my head spin with water science.
