Could the black one be 3d printed?

About Me

@MattH

I’ve tried them with more traditional roasts and also find they work well. That said, I haven’t actually tried the 189 burrs.

@Adrianmsmith

Yeah I think the last one is the one I’m leaning towards, probably just turned oak with black stain.

In hindsight the metal one is way over the top and would also be pretty heavy.

    Anodised aluminium would be much easier to machine and lighter i guess.

    Ah yes good point. Anodised black would work well with the finish on the Philos. The company I’m getting a quote from also anodise.

    Something like one of these I reckon. The bolts are unnecessary so just adhesive. It’ll probably come down to price as I can get the wood one turned relatively easily.

      You may have to drill it……

      And add 2 nipples

      To satisfy the OCD.

      Nice! I just had a read.

      I love it for nostalgia reasons (first proper grinder was a Mini years ago) but yeah, very limited domestic market I’d have thought!

      I’m guessing it’s for businesses who want a Super Jolly but in a smaller footprint. I still see a fair few Mazzers in coffee shops but mainly Majors. I can see this Mini being a nice option for coffee vans or carts where space is limited and the usual commercial options are too big/heavy.

      I’ve finalised the design but as expected the quotes are huge and not worth getting a one-off made really. CNC before anodising is £255, resin 3D printing is over £150 for a decent resolution.

      Normal filament printing is realistic at about £20 but it will look rough.

      I’m going to just go with wood I think, stained black. For the window I’ve found a perspex disc with a rubber traction ring around the outside to fit into the hole (hence the unusual dimension in the middle).
