Yeah. I saw that machine, but not much info about it at the moment. It’s a HX machine with a ring group - no idea what the features are, or how smart or clever it is.

Nurri has been working on introducing their pump machine for quite some time. It used to be called by a different name. A prototype for the r type was featured in the host Milan exhibition last year.

Yes that's probably the same prototype. The earlier version being prototyped was called the gto. It has been in gestation for more than a couple of years. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ojyl_6w4otk

@"DavecUK"#p62196 I like the form factor of the gto a lot as it is very small footprint. The newer prototype version looks a little bigger but it is closer in family.looks to the L type leva so I suspect that's probably one of the reasons why the design was changed.

The vent in the e61 that is poised over the driptray would also serve the same purpose as the vent for the r type which was to empty the water from the grouphead into the drip tray when the shot is ended, and that was what I was referring to. I was responding to the other post-er who had assumed that just because this vent is present, that the opv issue that he was worried about will necessarily be present also.

Understood - it wasn’t clear from the video. For reference, on my Elizabeth (same type of group “ring group” it actually has two vents: One for venting out the group - which is technically dirty water, and another to vent out the vacuum breaker. The expansion valve go back to the tank. 👍

Thanks all for your follow-ups. The truth is that we don’t know how the production R-Type will perform in regard to OPV water outlet. If it’s OPV outlet exiting into drip tray at front, in every machine I have owned, that water is routed back to the water reservoir. I would hope the R-Type does that too.

I already own the nurri leva as my main machine but givrn how happy i have been with the L type leva, I was very interested in the r type as a possible replacement for my e61 office machine, if the machine fits my needs and my budget. So I too will be watching with keen anticipation when the production model or the e type arrives!

My thought too. I do like the ‘feel’ of Antonia Nurri trying to produce quality products in their respective lever and saturated group markets and I genuinely hope that he is successful with the R-Type. Bit early to tell yet. What saturated group, with manual pressure profiling machines, would you suggest are his main competition? Say under £5,000 or hopefully less?

It’s not a saturated group, just a standard ring group equipped with group heaters (at least the prototype and the one I saw at Host last October, had group heaters?

Is that a little bit like how the Sage Dual Boiler has both of those features? I really used to enjoy tinkering with the different things you could do in the advanced menu system. I remember the first shot I pulled with the pump set to pre-infuse for 60 seconds though I cannot remember at what now, but I do remember I was drinking a decaf of some sort and I made an americano as the first pump shot and there was fruit bursting out where fruit should not have been! I await this machine with renewed interest now!

I have never used a breville or sage dual boiler, so i dont know how its grouphead temp is controlled. But if u can set the temp of the grouphead independently of the boiler temp on one, then that would be the same feature I am thinking of.
