Hi Folks, Looking for some food for thought to help me make a decision on my next espresson venture Firstly, a little background: currently, I own a E61 HX machine, and whilst happy with it - feel its a good time to upgrade. Main reason for upgrading is: a) more milky coffee drinkers in the house, so DB would be helpful b) find the temp surfing on the HX a little tiresome and inconsstent (even with a grouphead termometer) c) would like to experiment with lighter roast coffee d) just fancy a change PS I also use AeroPress, V60 pour over, french press on a regular basis So my short list - are down to 2 * ECM Syncronika with flow control * ACS Vesuvius Evo Leva I know these are different beasts, so really looking for guidance on the key differences I can expect in the cup Given, I can mimic a lever shot, with the FC on the ECM - what else can a lever machine for me? is a saturated group head really better than a E61 for temp stability and forgiveness when it comes to poor puck prep? surely the FC can help with that as well any thoughts would be greatly appreciated PS its only thse two machines under consideration. I have looked into Lelit Baiance and LR24, etc - but have settled a choice between the above two Many thanks

May I suggest the Vostok then? Same as the Evo but has a better water tank filling situation, also imo more of a looker. [URL=https://i.imgur.com/QvMukty.jpeg][IMG]https://i.imgur.com/QvMukty.jpeg[/IMG][/URL] I really wanted one, but it was too big for my counter

the evo will have miles better temp control than the ecm, imo the bianca is the best for temp control on the e61,

but going back to the bianca after an evo i could tell a difference shot wise, and fc i rarely used it on the bianca, i usd the built in features more.

thanks for that. I guess my concern about the FC, is that I will constantly need to ‘play’ with it and repeatabiltiy would be difficult - but its only a guess

with the evo, after dialling in batch of beans, I can pretty much set the preinfusion and the spring will take of the rest of the shot - is that right?

..and for anything other than the typical lever shot, I can just control the lever on its way back up?

i am guessing, with the ECM i do the same(ish) with the FC adjustment

the lever is very set and forget repeatability,

you have more scope to play with beans with non leavers

wow, you;ve gone through some setups

Yeah, I know the eve is big machine, so its home will be in my home office anyway, as i can’t even get a small machine in our kitchen due to the design

so, actually space won;t be an issue - will be setting a dedicated coffee trolley/bench

hmm, I actually don’t like the look of the Vostok - especially the frame under the drip tray

whilst space in the office won’t necessarily be an issue, I still dont the machine disporttonally larger

alos, I think this will be outside of my budget anyway

I thought they were similar price to the Evo

The Evo and ECM are quite different in price are they not

Vostok and Evo are possibly similar in price - i had just assumed the vostok would be quite abit higher

Yes, there is quite a price difference in price between the Evo and ECM Sync - but I have an opportunity to get an evo, not too far from ECM - hence the consideration in the first place

if based on RRP, I would probably stick to the ECM and have a Gagguino as a side project (probably will probably do anyway, as have the kit on order)
