MuddyOne Shouldn’t opening more flow control actually lower the pressure on gauge?
The pressure is a combination of what is pushed into the group and what is let out of it. If you open the flow control valve (let more water in), the pressure will go up, unless the puck isn’t able to hold the pressure (e.g because the grind is too coarse) and it will then be released through the coffee.
There is also a top limit to the pressure because of the OPV, which will release any pressure above what it is set to (e.g 9 bar).
Lastly, there’s usually a delay between the time you change the flow and the time that this reflects in a change of pressure. For example, if the puck provides enough resistance, you will quickly get to the max OPV pressure even with a very low flow. If you then reduce the flow, you will not see a decrease in pressure until enough water exited the group through the coffee - it doesn’t happen instantly.
