Got a bunch of emails with an 85% off offer on Aeropress Yule deal (£10) as an apology for sending ‘incorrect emails’.

Suspect a dodgy link.

I do hope there has not been a data breach via Hasbean/Ozone.

    Response from Ozone FYI:

    "Hello Mark, good afternoon.

Thank you for your message and for letting us know, we have heard from a few customers about messages being sent out pretending to be us with a heavily discounted AeroPress bundle offer and those messages definitely aren’t coming from us.

We’ve been doing our best to deal with this issue since we were first made aware and have been reporting anything/everything to do with it to the companies that provide the numerous services involved including domain hosting companies, email message sending services, and Shopify stores that have been set up as part of this too. The people responsible have been using a range of different/new domains as part of the attack to get around certain email security standards + try to evade spam filters, we’re reporting each of them as quickly as we can and are hoping action will be taken swiftly.

I would ask that you please report the email to your email provider, block the sender, and please don’t click on anything within the message. If you also have time, please forward the offending message to The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) at report@phishing.gov.uk

We’ve been confidently reassured by support teams at all the main platforms we actively currently use that no data has been compromised. All accounts are secured with 2FA and all login activity has been accounted for. Our current investigations point to email addresses and names being unfortunately accessed via a single historical account on a platform that is no longer in active use. The account has been locked and closed by the company it was held with.

I’m very sorry you received the offending communications and appreciate you bringing this to our attention."

Had this last year, I emailed them, them mine stopped definitely email them and tell them it’s happening again

    Yep. Had this too.

The give away is the email address listed top left. Hasbean no longer exists as a company having been absorbed into Ozone Coffee. Hasbean’s base in Stafford is now listed as Ozone.

These scammers are nothing if not persistent. The email account has switched from Outlook to hotmail. Don’t be fooled

Systemic Mine also had a, “113 Cherry St, Seattle WA” postal address which is another red flag.

Haven’t read all of this, but, what is the scam here. Not asking for you to follow any links if you do not know though 🫣🤭😜😎

Adrianmsmith How would we know without following the link? The fact that they’re obviously spurious is enough reason to avoid.

Getting an Aeropress travel kit for £10.00 delivered. Clicking on the link will probably result in your computer melting before your eyes😀😀

Why it’s called a Yule travel kit is a mystery but if you Google it, this comes up half way down the page.

I tried to warn them back in 2021 that their customer database had leaked. I was really disappointed with their flippant reply.

jamiekitson I waited a while before allowing this post (as I wasn’t sure whether a private communication should be shared like this and I wasn’t sure if it is a grudge post)…it seems strange that this is from 2021, but it does seem to be happening even now?

It just seemed an odd first and only post to make…presumably you won’t be posting again, having made your feelings clear?

DavecUK I’ll come back in three years time and post another topical message :) Don’t I recognise you from coffeeforums.co.uk?

                Im confused

Why was this post 7 days ago reporting something from 2021….

Its been a long week so could be just me missing the point….. sorry in advance 😎

                About Me

@Adrianmsmith No, it’s probably one of those cases where I assume the link is obvious, but I have the context which no one else does.

Recently HasBean customers (including me) received some scammy emails trying to get card numbers out of people by offering a too good to be true coffee gear offer, and HasBean now accepts that their email database has leaked. However back in 2021 I tried to warn them that their email database had leaked after I received a spam email to an address that I had only ever used with HasBean. Their reply was flippant.
