After many £'s and experiments, I have decided to stop trying to make brewed coffee. I really admire those who can but I have to accept the limit of my own abilities. I put all of the gear away this morning. I have two grinders, a Niche Zero and one of those T64 multi speed things (still not run in properly, but I was keen to try the SSP burrs). I used the Niche for espresso based and the other for brewed.
So, I decided to take the filter only Dark Woods bean I was using and make an espresso then add water. I guessed at the correct grind setting but was too tight as the pour took 50 seconds, no crema and was thin and watery. I drank it anyway. The bean was the much loved Reserve Yellow fruits. Even knowing the extraction was all wrong the taste was amazing. It really is a strange old world
