I enjoyed 3 of the 4 bags I got, the one I wasn’t keen on was darker roasted than the other 3 , but I should have known that before ordering 🙄

Just received a kilo of their Colombian, think it was about £23 delivered, will tip that into the hopper on Tuesday👌

Waitforme the one I wasn’t keen on was darker roasted than the other 3

There is a very dark roast for the coffee shops that buy it…for obvious reasons, they are almost exclusively making milk drinks and milk coffee desert drinks. Most home prosumer users probable won’t like it, unless they are only into milk drinks.

dfk41 interesting David I wondered if anyone had tried the Kata or Liscio as I’m interested in the sweetness described as ⅘. I only have one drink a day and like it to blow my socks off!

I guess I just volunteered to try it 🤡

      And I did 😎

I took a punt on this when i ordered and was really good. I still think they do the best decaf I’ve had, and would struggle to tell it from regular!

dfk41 when I bought mine I didn’t realise I’d already bought from them in 2020 which I cannot remember at all - back in my Gaggia Classic days

dfk41 although they seem to roast on the darker side, they seem to have nailed it. I’m yet to try their Mexico decaf as that’s new to me, they only had the Brazilian Swiss Water before so looking forward to crack into that soon! I’ll let you know how it goes! 😉

Just to shout out again, and sorry if I have said this. The first bag I opened from Limini, was called Rimini. Nice and dark and full of flavour but if you were a click either way on the Solo away from optimal, the taste was lesser. I then opened the Limini blend. This looked similar. I then realised that I had ordered the dark roast version. This was slightly easier to dial in and for my cardboard tastebuds, very tasty indeed. I would go as far as to say, as a cappuccino it was outstanding.

The reason that I am banging on about this is simple. I have preferred darker roasted coffee for 25 years. I have been though dozens of roasters. I have been though Single Origin, blends, you name it. Every now and then you find a roaster that just nails it…..for me, this is it. If you do buy from Limini (and they are very reasonably priced) please do post back and tell us your thoughts

          6 months later

I usually buy the Rimini or Limini blends and to qualify for free postage a 250 gm bag of something else. This time I bought this one, Liscio
          https://www.liminicoffee.co.uk/shop/blends
It is not as dark as the usual blends I buy from them bur slightly north of medium.
I was really pleasantly surprised by this one. It is just as tasty as a black americano or with milk

Inspector Good question. It is Feb 19th. To our minds many will think that unacceptable. But, taking everything into consideration and the fact I can drink them immediately and they were cheap I do not mind. All of the other offerings that I have had from them have been roasted and received about 5 to 7 days following the order. I will query this with them.

Just to update this. I contacted Limini and received an answer along the lines of they saw absolutely nothing wrong with sending out 21 day old beans that had a shelf life of 6 months. I pointed out that a busy cafe might use a kilo of coffee in an hour or a day, therefore the age of the beans becomes of less importance. To a home user, a kilo lasts me a month and in addition, since I am used to receiving recently roasted beans it mucks up my coffee rotation as I always have several beans waiting to be used. I received a slightly sarcastic reply that I am mulling over

Is that sarcastic - seems pretty helpful if they are happy to maintain customer preferences. Of course it would be good to see if on future orders that is maintained.

I have not tried them before - and I like a proper dark (traditional maybe) coffee and all my drinks are with milk…..

          Cheers

          Matt

MattH I can thoroughly recommend the coffee. They do the Limini blend in two roast levels. If I had ben writing that email to me, I would have used a different approach. To suggest they will send out coffee less than 21 days old to me, means it could be 20 days old and still reflect their agreement. My response was to thank them and suggest if they were putting a marker on my account, to change it to 7 days

I tried the Christmas blend which was ok and the lisco. The lisco was really darkly roasted and tbh quite a few of the beans were black. No matter what I did it tasted like rubber tyres, I did email them as I thought the roast was off but they replied and said this one was hard to dial in.
