Old pictures of your coffee kit

A very old Facebook friends suggestion popped up in my feed today……it was me from a long time ago with an account I have not used in years! There were two photos there though that I have not seen in years and years. The first was my Fracino Heavenly that I paired with a brand new Malhlkonig K30 in red, and the second was a shot pulled on said combo. I have no idea what the bean was but it certainly had some crema!

When I have started with espresso, this was in the second half of the seventies, there were no digital cameras. So I didn’t bother to take any photos. The first setup was a Turmix TX10, with a matching grinder. Later, from ’82 or so, there have been some Gaggias (Classic and Baby). I have kept the first generation of MDF grinders.

My first ever setup.

Only ever had two set-ups, my trusty old Gaggia with PID that I blew up three times and resurrected, and the Brasilia behemoth of a grinder. After that I got the ‘ooh, what else can I make proper coffee with’ bug and added an Aeropress, Clever Dripper, Rok espresso maker and grinder, V60 - 2 sizes and jugs, Hario Dripper, Chemex - 2 sizes, Moka Pot, Techni Vorm Moccamaster, a Fellow Stag swan neck kettle and Solo USB Hand grinder (Dave’s recommendation)…phew! Much of which, I might add, I have got at bargain prices through seeking out second hand. Finally, I do have the MHW-3Bomber coming from AliExpress because it was so cheap, it would have been rude not to.

It ends there because unless I win the lottery or a long-lost relative I have never met pops their clogs and leaves me a stash of cash, I cannot ever see me buying a new shiny chrome beauty, like many of you on here own. Unless, of course, my Sage Dual boiler goes bang, then who knows? I could always sell a kidney ;)
