Descale on Lelit Mara X

I have never descaled my machine which will be 3 years old next April but was descaling our Dualit kettle with their recommended descaler which is Kilrock Multi purpose Descaler and noticed on the label on the back it mentions using on Coffee Machines, anyone here used it or will it be a bit harsh, it sure ‘Fizzes’ well in the kettle but does a great job, I was only asking because it is what I have in the cupboard and will buy whatever is needed for the ‘job’, thanks

gordy53 trying to remember but pretty sure MaraX boilers are 316L steel, so you should be fine. There is a drain tap for the thermosyphon loop, can’t remember whether there is one for the main part of the boiler as well (might be). The only part that will suffer a bit with a strong descaler is the group, where it will strip the chrome from the mushroom and you definitely always need to dry and lubricate the E61 internals after descaling.

I used that stuff in the past and remember it is formic acid,did a great job on the kettle at the time, I assume it behaves the same as citric acid etc used in descalers and I think I read at the time it was food safe too not sure how corrosive to chrome Formic acid is either
