@"dfk41"#p76378 I was trying find out more the other day. There are a few German videos on YouTube which you can put captions on and the official channel had 1 video from about 4 months ago. There is a short interview with the owner in the factory visit video by a German YouTuber which is conducted in English. Apparently the owner used to own a lower end brand which wasn't mentioned but he sold it and wanted to make a machine that offered what the premium machines offer but at a lower price. There is also a German comparison video with a profitec move and ascaso duo (I think) but I haven't watched this one yet. I still haven't pulled the trigger on buying an Elizabeth because I have been put off a little with noticing more and more posts about build quality and reliability issues in other forums. With the price increase of the Elizabeth as well I was starting to look at the profitec move but then I saw this so that has derailed things a little further. I'm half tempted to just get that new V2 mii coffee machine off Amazon for £400/£500 when it comes out in Feb and then wait to see where the espresso machine landscape is in another years time 😂🙈

I did see this machine at the BB site the other day. I’ll watch the video and will do some digging. Apparently they are made in/near Porto, Portugal (isn’t that where Lance Hendrick lives these days?) The boilers are decently sized if you ask me. Compare that to the Elizabeth, brew boiler 300ml and Steam boiler 600ml. The Arkel Coast is 700ml and 1000ml!

I saw this on the BB website too, it looks interesting so I’ll probably have a closer look next time I’m picking some beans up from BB. I think the difficulty will be getting people to go for an unknown brand when there are enough options from better known/trusted manufacturers that don’t cost much more.

Dusk With a 2 year BB warranty and presuming it uses standard industry parts I do not think it is too much of a gamble. It will be interesting to see how well it goes down though. I like different things and this ticks that box

Looks like a really interesting machine. Great to see something that isn’t a typical E61 with flow control.

Quite a nice looking design too. If it works well it seems like a great option at that price.

HarveyMushman - I didn’t quite understand the pressure regulator lever. Is that only during pre-infusion phase or can that be used at any time?

Can someone please explain to me why as a consumer we have to struggle to find information on most of these new products? I love reading through this forum as people’s collective knowledge seems to dwarf any other community that I’ve come across, so why aren’t manufacturers spamming people like Dave with requests to take a look and get feedback on their product?

I’ve obviously never launched my own espresso machine but if I’ve nothing to hide and I’m proud of my creation then it seems a no brainer?

Sure we don’t have to wait for the great Lance to post one of his snarky little videos 😂🙈

Because some rush to get out a video just to get it out there, without fully researching the product and understand how it works

All this does is creat misunderstanding and leaves more questions than answers . Especially true with the video in question.

Lets hope they follow up with another video with a full fact list of what it can and cannot do in case it does appeal to someone and saves them buying it without fully understanding its capabilities.

As is already clear its “pressure profiling” ability is somewhat ambiguous .

I’m really tempted by this machine, it looks great and has some nice components and features. The pressure profiling seems a little gimmicky given you can’t reproduce it, more it just saves a bad shot when you’re trying to dial in. Might need to head up to BB to see it in person and how it compares to a Profitec Move. There aren’t that many DB machines in that sub £2000 mark that aren’t E61 based, feels like it’s a space that will only get more and more competitive

dfk41 I don’t think you can be on this forum and not know about the Elizabeth! It was implied in my list, I just prefer the Profitec and that it comes in black!

I’m finding it a little odd how there has been no videos I can find or write ups from paying average users seeing as the machine has been in customers hands for a few months in Europe now as far as I’m aware.

EddieMoonshine yeah I’ve been digging to try and find something but no luck so far! Maybe I have to bite the bullet and be that person lol! If I buy it from bellabarista is it a huge risk? Or I just stick my guns and get the Profitec Move. Though I have seen user reviews of that complaining about some leaks but that’s apparently all fixed going forwards

thetravdog I’ll give that a watch when he releases that video. I watched his video on the new gaggia dual boiler the other day which was pretty brutal, entirely fair though I thought. I originally was planning to get an Elizabeth just after Xmas but I bottled it after reading a fair few quality issue posts from around the internet and then I noticed this arkel that interested me. I ended up just getting a cheap delonghi machine untill I could find out a little more. The delonghi has been a lot better than I thought it would be but I’m still after a “proper” machine ultimately and I think I’m ending up back at the Elizabeth 🙈. I’m not sure I like the glass part to the arkel either.

EddieMoonshine I will make a decision myself once that review comes out I think, I’ll let you know if I buy it. I spoke to bellabarista on the phone and whilst they said the Profitec Move should be more reliable they’ve had a fair few issues with the 20 odd units they have sold from their batch of 45. They only have 12 of the Coast and have sold 6 so far, I’m leaning to the Arkel just out of curiosity and it’s got more of a professional build inside with bigger boilers, so it is more capable for sure. I like the feature set of the Elizabeth, it’s a great machine I’m sure. Lelit should do it in black with walnut steam knob and portafilter one day to match the Bianca, if that was available I would have bought it by now!
