That’s not ideal, when you removed the burrs were there alignment shims in position?
I’m tempted to take mine apart and check for any corrosion…
I don’t have a Philios, I have a duo.
Workflow is great, I do use a small silicone bellow which reduces retention to near enough zero.
I picked up the filter burrs recently and have compared them to my Fellow Ode gen2, in my opinion, with my coffee, the duo filter burrs are better which surprised me.
But in all honesty I haven’t changed them much, especially since getting the Vesuvius with it’s quiet mag pump and it’s timer on/off functionality. I would usually make filter coffee in the week before work, but the vesuvius has made it possible to make espresso in the morning, from a noise perspective and waking up the house if nothing else compared to my previous vibe pump machine. Therefore the filter burrs are rarely used, the Ode makes life simple in that respect. which is a shame. The Ode Gen2 is also simple for my wife to use. I wouldn’t expect her to change burrs on the duo.
I would therefore, if you can only have 1 grinder, get one that can do both espresso and filter with a single set of burrs, it’s just easier even though the duo is very well designed.
Mine has no plans to go anywhere, I’m happy with the ode as it’s partner and knowing if I wanted a slight improvement for filter I have those burrs ready to go. Alternatively I could buy some SSP burrs that are good at both espresso/filter and fit them to the filter burrs carrier and also be able to do both on one burr set!
