Cheers guys. I did actually see the feld47 offer last week. I’m going to sit on the idea for the time being and concentrate on changing the variables as @MWJB suggested. Probably a good time to try some different roasters who focus on espresso roasts. Out of the subscriptions I’ve had over the last year, the Omniroasts have been excellent for filter but just haven’t been cutting it for espresso and just tending to be ‘OK’.
The reason I’ve stuck with the likes of Foundry and hard lines is because they never seem to go past a medium roast. I like my espresso for flat whites but my preference is strong medium often with complexity. Liking milk drinks does not always mean you want a darker roast as is what often gets offered by roasters these days.
Potential 1st hand grinder for espresso..

I wish more people realised this.
That’s 2 of us now!!

I totally agree - Black Cat have from Brazil Eagle Monte Carmelo Natural at the moment which is very nice. Proper Medium with good depth of flavour.
Yep, my biggest coffee enjoyment in the past couple of years is discovering the new flavours that adding milk to med/light roasts opens up.
Citrus notes become lemon meringue, summer fruits become blackberry muffins.
I can appreciate a well made espresso but milk isn’t just for diluting a dark roast!

Always keep tabs on Blackcats offerings as usually spot on with unbeatable value.
Been looking at espresso subscriptions over the weekend, ideally prefer a roasters choice as I get bored quite quickly with the same bean. Problem with it alternating is receiving a dark roast you didn’t want! Might need to send a few emails..
HarveyMushman It’s a chore because it’s outdated Comandante. Newer grinders will be delivering in less than half the time 😎👌

Another vote for Kinu, but 1zpresso are great as well and I hear much good stuff about KinGrinder (K6?) at a fraction of the price.
ROK also a very good grinder with added benefit of easy grinding. I’ve bought them cheaply where I live (secondhand).
Or just buy DF54? 🤷♂️

I agree, those new grinders with motors in.

I got the J Ultra after looking around at ALL the options for a while. I only use it for filter really but I like the fact it can grind fine enough for espresso and have done when i want to try an espresso. I can’t compare it to others as it’s the only hand grinder I’ve used but the external adjustment is nice and easy to use and it’s a solid build.
