Help Needed with My Lelit Mara PL62W: Intermittent Steam/Water Issues

Hello everyone,

I’m Jose, new to the forum. I own a Lelit Mara PL62W but I’ve run into some concerning issues with my machine.

The Problems I’m Experiencing

1\.	Intermittent steam and water flow: When I’m using the steam wand, the steam comes out in pulses rather than a steady stream. Sometimes it’s strong, then suddenly weak, then strong again.

2\.	Hot water wand not working at all: The dedicated hot water wand doesn’t dispense any water whatsoever. I’ve tried the knob in different positions, but nothing comes out.

I did decale yesterday.

Has anyone else experienced similar issues

How long have you owned the machine (did you buy it from new)?
Is your water very hard (it looks like it might be
during your ownership, how many times have you descaled it
Were the problems before or after your descale
did descaling make the problems worse or better?
Is this an early Lelit Mara, or Lelit Mara X
What was the procedure used for the descale, what descaler and how much did you use (concentration)?

I got it from my sister a year ago, she got it new 3 years ago but she didnt do any maintenance just cleaning the group head.

I put mineral water since she gave me it but it seems that she put tap water on it always

The hot wand problem was before descaling but the steam wand problem is after

Steam wand problem worst for sure, hot water wand problem still the same. No water is coming out

This is an early Mara, I will attach a picture.

The descaling procedure was with a decaler called Purivita doing 1:4 ratio with water. I did follow a video but in this video after getting 0,5l from the group head, they turn off the machine and open the hot wand until it stops ( i couldnt do this because the qand didnt works so open the steam wand instead)

Dave, hello again. I just fixed it, seems that i forgot to upside down the machine and drain the boiler thru the steam wand, anyway the hot water wand still failing

If you can get any water through the wand, then it won’t descale. I imagine the machine was very badly scaled and there is probably still more inside.

DavecUK I just watch a video that someone put some air with an air compressor at the hot water wand, so i will try to do that and then descaling again. Does it make sense?

I’ve never done that, but you can try, it might move the blockage. Just be careful not to use too much pressure.

Sorry to hijack the thread,

I have the same machine with a similar problem. The hot water side has completely stopped working, I saw the video that @JoseEsc mentions and tried that, I can get air through the wand and can hear it entering the boiler, so there is no blockage. I’m now at a loss as to what it could be - just for clarity I have used RO water from day one (Osmio Zero) descaled etc’ but cannot completely descale as the hot water wand is not working.

I’m now at a loss mate, hoping @DavecUK can suggest a broken or replacement part, everything else is fine with my machine just no hot water (which is something I do not use anyway) but it would be nice to have everything working. I contacted BB to see about a service but it will be in the region of £450 plus any parts required.

hubcap 450£ is insane.. anyway i did descale just with the group head and the steam wand. Just be carefull after descale becouse you need to flip the machine and connect a hose to the steamwand to fully empty the water in the boiler. If you search for a descale video, be carefull because mara X process is so diferent. Here is the video that i saw.

Interesting video and very informative, but as my hot water wand is not working at all, this procedure cannot be performed.

So, after all this, is your hot water wand working or is it still as before and not working?

my machine works fine and I can live without hot water but it would be nice to have it all working again.

Any ideas @DavecUK ?

The wand could be blocked with scale, or the valve could be faulty…

does no water at all come out
What happens if you remove the end piece and try to blow into the wand.
If you remove the water pipe connection to the boiler what happens?

Hi Dave,

No water at all (no drips either) completely dry, and just to mention, no sound either.

blowing into the wand has no resistance, I can hear air going all the way through.

As for removing the steam pipe, i have no idea how to do that, to be honest I’m quite limited to what I can do (75 years old etc’).

Could it be a collapsed seal in the water valve ?
