So just received my Elizabeth and have a few questions reference the advanced settings and pressure

Followed Dave’s advanced settings from the pdf from his review although some of the settings was massively different for example KPc as default was 2.0 whereas the recommended setting was 0.2 and KDc default was 1.0 whereas the recommended setting was 10 I’m assuming that Dave’s settings are what most people have set their Elizabeth to?

On to pressure - Should the pressure be adjusted to 9 bar if it’s brewing over that pressure? What pressure is everyone else using?

Yes.

Use your machine e as is, for at least two months. Learn how to work with it, it’s behaviour, etc. and then, when you have a grasp and understanding of what influences what, then you start worrying about modifying the machine. Otherwise, you’ll never know if you have changed things for better or worse.

Cheers Medium….. Out of curiosity I keep seeing that Espresso should be brewed at 9 Bars of pressure is that just a myth?

SouthMark45 - call it “the optimal pressure” someone came up with ages ago for coffee brewed ages ago. Let your tastebuds guide you. There’s no right or wrong. 👍

The KDs on my machine is originally set to 20.0 whereas Dave recomended the derivative0.0.

What do you think should be done?

amitah72 Read, watch, re-read and re-watch Dave’s reviews about the machine including advanced settings. Apply Dave’s recommended settings.

Thanks mate.I actually did it several times but there’s a huge variation here.I just wanted to know should I reduce it to 0.0 from the original setting of 20.0?

amitah72 Just follow Dave’s settings! And be careful when you enter the advanced menu. If you press the buttton’s incorrectly you restore to factory settings. I did this and the good news is it only takes a short time to restore them!

It depends if Mauro had the software tweaked..but I am not aware that he did.

I just checked my notes. The numbers are the original values, followed by a forward slash “/” and the value Dave suggested in his review, if changed. Specifically to KDs, the original value on my machine was 20. And Dave recommended to change it to 0. (i.e.: There’s no point in having a derivative value for steam).

KPc: 2.0 / 0.2
KIc: 0.04 / 0.07
KDc: 1.00 / 10
Bc: 30 (temp range over PID)

KPs: 2.0
KIs: 0.00
KDs: 20.00 / 0.00
Bs: 30 / 1 (temperature range over PID)
Ec: 10 (offset brew boiler)
Es: 5 / 0 (Steam offset)
F01: 1 (illumination)
TR: 0 / 1 (actual vs set temperature )
EVS: 1 (Steam pre-infusion on/off)
