I have just done the first descale on one of my Elizabeths. I use each for about 6 months a year - different places. I have been changing the water every month for the past 6 months or so, didn’t do it before I read Dave C’s post about it. I use Sainsburys spring water in UK and a lower calcium one from Le Clerc in France.
After leaving the descaling solution in the machine for 3 hours the first flush was very green. I wasn’t worried as it was usually like this, but not quite so green, when I did my old Ascaso Duo every month but that hat a continuous flow monoblock steam boiler which, I think, was likely to scale much more. I did this for the whole 6-7 years I used it and it was never a problem. After the first flush the green had gone and it needed one more to clear the taste.
Question for Dave C - should I worry about the green?
