simonc I had considered looking inside. Coincidentally I’ve seen water bubbling out of the vacuum breaker, not sure if that’s an issue but was tempted to check it or replace.
Is that easy to remove and put back?
It depends, it’s normal for a little water to bubble as the steam boiler comes up to 100C, then it should stop.
Replacement is easy if they used PTFE and harder if they used permanent thread locker…do you have a photo of the top of your boiler? Also a video of the bubbling will be helpful. I am curious to see what they are using. Can you also tell the when the machine was manufactured.
I want to know the manufacture date so I can speak to the factory (if it is a recentish machine), as I have been on at them for years to use PTFE or medium strength semi permanent thread lock on “maintenance fittings”. Thermostats, safety valves and vacuum breakers., for obvious reasons.
P.S. If you find the correct size O rings, you can clean the Teflon seat and replace the O ring for a few pennies, If it’s the traditional type vacuum breaker…rather than the fancy memory metal one. use Silicon, or even better FKM/Viton O rings. try amazon, but measure the O ring first…I can’t remember the size…it’s pretty small.
