If anyone is ordering from ACS I’d be happy to split the delivery. I need a couple of steam valve internals. They’re €13 each but the shipping is €40.

So after 4 and a half years of use, I’ve got my first leak. I took the top off and identified a loose nut on the top of the steam boiler, which I’ve since tightened, but I’ve noticed there’s also a leak coming from a join on a pipe on the bottom of the boiler.

I’m not sure what the fix is for this. Should it / can it be tightened, or do I need to find a sealant for it instead? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Cant answer without a photo to identify what the fitting is and what type it is.

Many types, compression, parallel and tapered screw fittings, flared fittings etc

All different in a repair situation.

Give us a bit of info and I’m sure someone will have an answer.

Thanks - I’m trying to find a way to.upload a photo. Got it now. Not sure if that can just be tightened, or whether I need some kind of joint sealant

Id remove. Clean threads. PTFE it up and tighten it back up. Don’t over tighten of course. Might take a few attempts to get it in the correct position relative to the number of turns of tape, (redo the tape if you have to remove it).

But I’d start with a minimum of 6 turns and go from there.

I’ve managed to get a spanner in to tightenen it up. I’ll flip her back up and see if that’s sorted

Usually for this type of leak that will not sort it out but good luck!

dutchy101 think acs use a liquid sealant which cures.

So tightening it may just break all of the seal, likely going to need removing, cleaning and sealing with PTFE.

Have put her back together / case back on and she’s fired up again. No hissing and no drips - so far so good.

Have a long bolt I can’t find where it goes back in now though ffs.

If anyone can take a pic of the underside off their Minima for me at some stage I’d be very grateful. Haha

I’ve a steam tip that’s rusting where it connects to steam wand. I’ve been using the machine for ~4years now. To replace, not sure if I’ll be able to simply unscrew the tip (presumably after I remove steam wand from machine) or need to replace the ful tip back to ball joint - could someone advise what is easiest, also where to get spares, and/or any videos that can help.

poolfan are you sure it’s rust, not some pre-historic baked milk or something? It’s unlikely for stainless steel to rust.

Best thing for you to do is to remove the steam tip and assess what the situation is. If you only need to replace the tip, then just replace the tip.

Edit: Something just dawned on me. If I remember correctly, ACS at one point was adding threadlocker / glue to the steam want tip :-( - which would make it virtually impossible to unscrew by hand - so you may need a spanner, providing the steam tip has flat sides. But be super careful not to damage the steam tip: You can wrap electric tape around it - a few turns!!!! - or just plastic jaws.

Are you sure the “rust” is not just the thread locker / glue?

poolfan If you get a pitcher of cold water and use the steam to heat it up as far as you can. Discard and repeat several times. If it is gunge then this will help to loosen it. Then I would get a cloth and wrap it around before carefully applying pressure to twist off, being careul to try and not damage the tip.

A lot of folks, after they have steamed always vent out to get rid of any milk residue then wipe with a damp cloth
