poolfan If you get a pitcher of cold water and use the steam to heat it up as far as you can. Discard and repeat several times. If it is gunge then this will help to loosen it. Then I would get a cloth and wrap it around before carefully applying pressure to twist off, being careul to try and not damage the tip.

A lot of folks, after they have steamed always vent out to get rid of any milk residue then wipe with a damp cloth

I’d call it basic hygiene and a mandatory step!

tks for reponses folks. I assumed it was rust from the onset, but folowing your replies, I took a pointed knife to it and carefully ‘attacked’ it and confirmed it was only crud. I always wipe off after use, this was in the blind spot at back of the nozzle, so obviously my wiping techniuq has to improve. All sorted, cheers!!

The last shot protection device seems to have broken. Are these easy to replace?

It it worth considering changing the tubes on a coffee machine after a few years?

I think I also need some new PID sensors. Are these all easily available to buy?

Can I get replacements from a UK retailer, or does this all need to come from ACS?

One of my favourite things to do on a new coffee machine, for context I like to buy ones that don’t work or need rebuilding, is to change the silicone hoses for fresh! They are usually minging after a while, so yes, defo change them.

The ACS Minima uses narrower hoses, 4×7mm?

Excellent - thanks @Tal I think it’s time for mine to be replaced after 4 years. May as well do it all at once
