The skinny pin in the middle has a seal inside, that is pushed up and seals when the boiler is pressurised at >100C.

It doesn’t need to be unscrewed

Struggling to undo the vacuum breaker - it feels like the whole boiler is moving when I’m trying to undo it. I’ve also managed to slice my finger and wrist on the top edge of the machine.

Any tips for how to loosen it without sheer brute force? Not sure if there’s a thread locker on it

All sorted now. My dad came over and held the boiler and machine whilst I u did the vacuum breaker. Soaked the vacuum breaker in some puly caff solution and it’s all put back together and working perfectly again. I even managed to find where the missing screw goes after taking it all apart a few weeks ago. Result.

No jusr puly caff. The pin is moving freely now. If it happens again I’ll do a descale but the puly caff took loads of crap off

I appear to have spoken too soon. The hot water tap is not getting up to temperature again. Just about to order some Puly Descaler and will descale the vacuum breaker.

Could it be a PID issue?

So it was working intermittently. I got some Pulycaff descaler and took it all apart again last night and descaled the vacuum breaker.

Working perfectly again now. Thanks @Paolo_Cortese and others for your help

Alas, I speak too soon again. Same thing happening. Losing temperature and power with the steam wand. Could it be something else?

Maybe I should drain the steam boiler and refil

Which pump is the Minima fitted with?

Is it a C3PA?

Scrap that, my brother thought his Minima pump was on its way out as it started making lots of noise and no flow. Turns out the tank was empty.

Which leads me to ask why the H2O warning didn’t notify him of it. Assume the water level switch could be faulty?

Also as a side note. The machine frequently exhibits a high pitched chirping noise. We’ve changed the OPV and no difference.

Assume it could be a split water pipe or similar?

Worth checking if the water level float moves freely, me and a couple of others here have had issues where it split and would remain up or down.

It could well be the pump or dry seals, my pump made that sound before failing. It’s a standard ARS vibe pump, but you can replace it with a standard Ulka or Olab too for under £30.
