Different people have different beliefs n this matter with very little data backing up any claim. To me, the truth lies in buying beans in smaller bags. For example you look at a bean that is £7.99 for 250 gms but £22.99 for a kilo. So you buy a kilo thinking it is a bargain, but, you drink 2 × 18gm drinks a day. Any bean will stay drinkable for 2 to 4 weeks if you cut down the exposure to air. Normally the need to grab that bargain wins over the common sense approach.
Personally I do not believe in freezing beans but if you do and are happy with the results then go for it. I have a variety of Airscape containers. A kilo lasts me 2 to 3 weeks so I am not in the slightest bit concerned with the beans going stale. Again, in my humble opinion weighing out beans into single dose containers then freezing is just another couple of layers of faff being added to an already complicated coffee routine. Some people enjoy faff, I detest it!
