Cuprajake Those cheap energy deals wont last for ever, and once more and more are dependent on electricity they will simply go up
Its just moving goal posts like ev buses thst get charged with diesel generators.
This may be true….it may not be, my reason was not cheap tariffs, but replacement of an entire aging system for a bargain price. In fact hot water may be even cheaper than I state as the system didn’t come on for heating the hot water today as the DHW tank had not gone below the level requiring topping up with heat. Even after my shower and washing up with hot water. It did that the day before yesterday as well, so my hot water could be 7p per day (ovo tariff), 13p per day (price cap electricity), vs 50p every day for gas.
Cuprajake Im still very much a skeptic, when ever there’s a grant to push up take on something, think those poly beads pushed into cavities only to have to be taken out because it was causing mold
Of course, they want us to put in Heat pumps, but one interesting snippet which did get missed by most was the comment from a lord and some MPs, “if we want people to get heat pumps, we will have to force them”. There is another government policy document…well hidden where there is a project to increase the price of gas (or at least that’s what I presume to reduce the disparity per kW in pricing (another nudge to heat pumps). The other nudge is that all new builds cannot have gas heating and have no gas supply pipes….over the years what do you think this will do to the price of gas.
We’re heading to an electric future, Nuclear reactors, SMRs, Solar, Wind, possibly fusion one day….regardless of what people might think or want.
